CUBA, April 30, 2008. Cuba and Panama signed on Wednesday a cooperation agreement for the rational and efficient use renewable energies.
Cuban President Raul Castro and his Panamanian counterpart Martin Torrijos headed the signing ceremony at Havana´s Palace of the Revolution.
Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque and Panama´s First Vice President and also Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis signed the accords which is complementary to the basic cooperation agreement adopted by both sides.
The understanding contributes in broadening cooperation between both countries and the exchange of experiences in the national development programs aimed at intensifying the rational and efficient use of renewable energies.
With this step both sides will promote economic growth, protection of the environment and social equality.
Also participating in the signing ceremony were Vice President Carlos Lage, Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer, Basic Industry Minister Yadira Garcia among others.
This is the 5th visit of the Panamanian Head of State to Cuba. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
