Cuba and China will Strengthen Technical-Scientific Cooperation

CUBA, October 14, 2009. A Cuban delegation currently visiting China confirmed the willingness of this Asian country to continue strengthening technical-scientific relations with the Caribbean nation in areas of common interest such as nano-science and nano-technologies.

The delegation, headed by Dr. Fidel Castro Diaz-Balart, scientific adviser of the Cuban Council of State, was welcomed in Beijing by Dr. Wan Gang, the Chinese Minister Science and Technology.

The meeting with the also vice chairman of the 11th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference took place at the Residence of State Guests, where the Cuban technical-scientific delegation was warmly welcomed.

Minister Gang expressed his personal admiration for the Cuban Revolution and he highlighted next year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the website of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Castro Diaz-Balart passed on a message of congratulations from the Cuban government on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China.

He added that bilateral relations have never been better in the political, economic, commercial, educational and scientific fields.Havana and Beijing are currently working in the organization of the upcoming 8th Meeting of the Cuba-China Joint Commission for technical-scientific cooperation, in which both sides will analyze new actions to further increase cooperation in this area.
